Ethel Agnes Zimmerman born 16 January 1908 broght a clipped, strong singing voice to the Broadway stage which together with her sassy personality and take-no-prisoners style made her a true star. Her role as a nagging mother-in-law In It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was played to perfection but it is as Rose in Gpysy that she gave her greatest performance.
